Aurealia Nelson (Sun Karma)
Art Historian | Author | Electronic Music Producer | Founder of THREE BLACK CATS| Co-Founder THREE OF CUPS
Aurealia Nelson—known in the creative and electronic music spheres as Sun Karma and DJ DEMONESS—is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher whose work explores the intersection of history, culture, and modern technology.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, and an alumna of Virginia Commonwealth University (BFA, African Art and Culture Studies), Aurealia brings a deep academic perspective to her creative pursuits. As a published author of works such as The Taming of the Man and NEGROELLA, she specializes in witty, subversive storytelling that reclaims and reimagines classic narratives for a modern audience.
Beyond the written word, she is a prolific electronic music producer, crafting immersive sonic landscapes in the Techno, Trance, and Cyberpunk genres. Her work is characterized by a "human-machine" aesthetic, often blending raw industrial textures with atmospheric depth.
In 2024, Aurealia established THREE BLACK CATS, a creative media house based in Chesterfield County, VA. Under this banner, she integrates her passions for digital content creation, advocacy, and historical research. As Co-founder in THREE OF CUPS Spiritual Organization she helped to plan & organize RVA's First Annual "Witch Walk" ® protest for First Amendment Rights. Whether she is investigating environmental triggers for neurological health, championing rights or designing the future of independent media, her mission remains the same: to amplify the human experience through practice, art and sound.
Aurealia currently resides in Chesterfield with her five cats, including her "OG," Juju.
